Dry tooling is climbing on rock while using ice axes and crampons, and learning to dry tool can be useful for many purposes such as training for winter ice climbing and gaining more familiarity with the tools.
With the further evolution of climbing tools, dry tooling is becoming more and more popular and more welcoming to climbers of all sizes and builds.
Why should everyone try dry tooling? If you are a beginner, dry tooling will help you gain tool familiarity as well as strength, which will directly aid your other climbing skills. If you are already an expert ice climber, dry tooling can give you a new level of finesse that will allow you to expand your abilities and desired routes.
