Aid climbing (climbing with the aid of stirrups, Friends, nuts and pitons) was the mother of climbing as we know it today. Aid climbing allowed us to overcome walls and routes that were, at the time, impossible for our abilities.
It is an art to learn to place various types of protections, trust the protections, and climb with confidence.
The Milano Adventure Aid Climbing Course not only teaches how to climb using slightly retro techniques, but it will allow you to discover various tricks that will allow you to climb routes that are out of your current free-climbing level!
Learning Topics
Short rope climbing on rocky terrain using:
- How to utilize protections used in Aid Climbing such as Friends, nuts, hooks, pistons, hammers and stirrups
- How to utilize slings effectively
- How to "place" the protections and understand their effectiveness
- Nailing techniques
Where?
Sasso Remenno – Val Masino
Duration
2 Days

GOALS
We will discover all the systems that can help us quickly climb sections that we cannot climb through the use of artificial tools. We will test the tightness of the protections that we will place, and we will try to hammer in the various types of nails to become more aware of how they work. Finally, we will push ourselves into the more psychological part of this world with the use of hooks and copperheads.
